Who Are We

VanHyning Photography is a fine art photography studio dedicated to landscape, nature, and wildlife imagery. Our work is rooted in more than thirty years behind the camera, shaped by a life spent in service and in close connection with the natural world.

This perspective was forged over a decade as a wildland firefighter, where understanding terrain, weather, and the balance of ecosystems was not optional—it was survival. That experience built a lasting respect for the environments we photograph. Sixteen years as a paramedic further refined a different skill: presence. The ability to slow down, observe, and recognize the importance of a single moment as it unfolds.

Those two paths now meet in the work.

Each photograph is created with intention—not simply to document a place, but to convey what it felt like to stand there. The goal is not just to show a landscape, but to translate the atmosphere, the stillness, the tension, or the light that made the moment worth capturing.

VanHyning Photography is led by Christine VanHyning, the primary owner of the business. Christine brings over 25 years of management experience with the State of New Jersey and 10 years of experience managing a homeowners association. She provides the leadership, structure, and strategic direction that supports the growth of the business, along with five years of experience in photography.

Craig VanHyning serves as a member of the management team and is the primary photographer. His work is grounded in field experience, technical precision, and a disciplined approach to capturing natural environments as they exist—without manipulation or interference.

“In nature, light creates the colors. In the picture, colors creates the light.”
